Voting Districts . .
Ransom Township is comprised of three voting districts. On election day,
polls open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM.

Tax Information . .
Real estate is assessed by Lackawanna County based on its value
compared with other similar properties.
The accessed value is a percentage of
the actual estimated market value. Based on the accessed value, three
tax bills are issued annually to a property owner:
Also, both the township and school
district impose a 0.5% tax on earned income,
and both have transfer taxes that must be paid when property is
transferred.

Refuse Collection & Recycling. . .
Waste Management collects refuse
curbside every Tuesday. Curbside recycling pick-up is conducted on the
third full Thursday (Milwaukee and Ransom Village) and Friday (Mount
Dewey) of each month. Newspapers, magazines, phone books, and co-mingled
glass, plastics (#1,#2 and #3 only) and metal/aluminum are accepted.
Recycling containers are available free of charge by calling the
municipal building.
Snow Removal & Road Maintenance...
On state roads, the PA
Department of Transportation is
responsible for snow and ice
removal and maintenance. Township
roads are maintained by the Ransom
Township Road Department.
Private roads are not the
responsibility of either the state
or the township.
